Today marks one of the worst days of my life from last year—the day my mom lost her battle with ovarian cancer. In those final moments with her, I promised I would continue the fight to ensure others wouldn’t have to endure the same suffering. This week was incredibly tough, and I wasn’t sure how I’d get through it, but the universe had plans for me. I am forever grateful to Stand Up To Cancer and @youtube for giving me the opportunity to use my voice to emphasize the importance of cancer research and the urgent need to find a cure. Most importantly, I’ve learned that giving someone hope is what matters most. Stand Up To Cancer showed me I’m not alone and that we’re all in this fight together. I’m deeply thankful to everyone who opened up and shared their stories with me. I also want to thank everyone who made a contribution to @su2c 🙏🏽 Today, I stand up for my MOM. When I spent time with the Clown In A Cornfield cast at SXSW earlier this year, I didn’t know the movie would eventually become the basis for one of San Diego Comic-Con’s best activations this year! Here’s a preview of the activation which, involved walking through a pitch black cornfield recreation (authentic too - it smelled like it!), rummaging for a key in a perfect farmhouse re-creation, and me exercising my KPop Demon Hunter strength with a sledgehammer. RUMI from KPop Demon Hunters has arrived at San Diego Comic-Con in time to make golden hour truly GOLDEN ✨ This Rumi cosplay was another fully custom look. I thrifted a vintage sequin jacket and stitched the gold trim by hand. All the gold accessories is real jewelry. The shield took the longest time to make. This originally started as a standard multi-layered leather belt. I removed the rivets, applied custom embroidery and then painted it gold. I commissioned the shoulder patch and stitched it onto the jacket myself. The chains are created from industrial chains, cut and sewn on specifically for this jacket. That’s real ear jewelry. The shirt beneath has a custom stitch, dual layered construction to emphasize the look’s regal vibe - when HUNTR/X drops the “Golden” single! For this look I thrifted the jacket and pants, custom tailored the fit, commissioned the embroidered patches from scratch, and had my two special friends from Côte d’Ivoire braid my hair.
