Last night was special. I’ve long admired Tom Hiddleston’s work, most recently with Life of Chuck from @tiff_net last year but also from gems like Midnight In Paris, I Saw the Light and The Night Manager which, is finally back for a 2nd Season (the first season 10 years ago was amazing!) What I did NOT expect to do last night was geek over our shared love and encyclopedic knowledge of Hans Zimmer scores throughout the decades. Apparently he listened to Zimmer a lot on set to prepare for the season. My mind was blown. 🤯 @twhiddleston, I expect you sitting front row at the next @hanszimmerlive concert. My grandpa was a huge trekkie and I watched endless Star Trek films and TV shows growing up so when Paramount asked to join them at the World Premiere of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, I didn’t hesitate to say yes. I channeled my favorite Starfleet captain, Jean Luc-Picard from The Next Generation (played by Patrick Stewart) and I was thrilled to find other Starfleet members dressed in the same colors (swipe left to see). I saw the first episode last night and it was FUN. Drops on @paramountplus next week on the 15th! Finally got to see my friend Shih-Ching Tsou’s solo directorial debut Left-Handed Girl that she co-wrote with Sean Baker (who also Edited and Produced it) on the big screen! It’s been a strong year for international cinema and this ranks up there as one of this year’s best! It definitely deserves to be on the Oscar shortlist for Best International Feature. Superb cast of pros and amateurs, with cinematography that pops off the screen and gives it a raw and authentic feel of a Taiwan Night Market. If you were raised in an Asian household like I was, you’ll appreciate the cultural nuances of the superb screenplay too.
