Texas-born model Aaron Bowman walks for German designer Philipp Plein in what is reputed to be one of the hottest shows in Milan this season. Plein's Spring 2017 catwalk show was a star-studded presentation followed by a basketball-inspired collection with extravagant detailing. To set the scene, the audience sat on bleachers, court side, against an HD backdrop with Plein's made-up team logos and a scoreboard countdown to the show. What followed was a mad parade of fighting mascots, the Harlem Globetrotters - with a basketball delivered by drone - flame throwers, cheerleaders in tutus with UV paint and Busta Rhymes on the microphone. When the models finally hit the runway their profiles were cast onto the backdrop and a video game projected floor followed their movements around the court. Luke Leitch describes the garments on the runway;
"Basketball-inspired pieces imprinted with the logo of Plein's made-up teams in Swarovski. There was black tailoring with orange seam details. The sneakers had those light-up soles and massive straps featuring Plein's name in gothic-font gold...Even through the gloom it was impossible to miss a yellow python bomber."
Silver ticker tape rained down as the dancers, mascots, rapper, Harlem Globetrotters, models and Plein converged on stage for the grand finale!
